Byron White, Psy.D.
Graduated from Spalding University with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 1998 and was an Adjunct Associate Professor for that university for 13 years. Dr. White is the Director of Clinical Services at Edelson & Associates, having previously been the Head of the Child/Adolescent Department. Dr. White had worked with Dr. Edelson for over 25 years, first as a graduate student and then as a clinician in both the adult and child divisions of the practice.
His interest in pediatric neuropsychology has contributed to collaborations with local neurologists, neurosurgeons, oncologists, brain injury programs, learning centers, and epilepsy programs. Dr. White has experience working in outpatient and inpatient facilities, including Child/Adolescent Inpatient and Day Treatment programs and Cognitive Rehabilitation. Areas of focus include assessment of children with suspected brain damage, concussion, pervasive developmental disorders (Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome), attentional problems, executive dysfunction, learning disorders, and emotional issues.
As head of the child department, Dr. White had pushed to expand services to younger children (toddlers and preschoolers) in hopes of identifying and meeting cognitive and developmental needs earlier than has been done in the past. He also has considerable experience in the forensic neuropsychological evaluation of children and adolescents with closed head injuries, seizures, chemical exposure, childhood stroke, and birth trauma. Work with adult patients has centered around rehabilitation following stroke and evaluation of dementia.
