Dr. Akers graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2014 and has been in the field of psychology since 2000. She previously worked for Greenville County Schools in South Carolina and Georgia Southern University in the areas of school, counseling, and clinical psychology, which afforded opportunities to gain experience in assessment, consultation, psychotherapy, research, supervision, and teaching. She currently specializes in assessment of adults with emotional and neuropsychological disorders.
Additionally, Dr. Akers completed two years of postdoctoral practitioner-based training at two psychoanalytic institutes (NPAP and WAWI) and enjoys utilizing psychoanalytic psychotherapy with adults who may be experiencing a wide variety of concerns to help them reduce symptoms, learn more adaptive coping strategies, accomplish goals, improve their relationships, and enjoy their lives more.
